Wednesdays at 7pm at Absolute Bikes

by Leslie Gilmore

Bike Maintenance Clinics:
Starting at 7pm till ??
Choose the clinic or clinics that meet your needs!
Bikes are welcome and often encouraged.

We will be running the series twice! See the dates below...

6-9-10 or 7-21-10 : Basic Ride Safety and Preparedness
If you are new to recreational road and mtb riding this clinic will take you through basic tools and equipment you will need to have a great time and make it home safely. We will cover basic bike care, common mechanical issues, and the rules of the road/trail. If you have a tool kit that you will be riding with, bring it along and we will go over how to use it.

6-16-10 or 7-28-10 : Routine Bike Care and Upkeep
The focus of this clinic is to keep your bike running smoothly between semi-yearly tune-ups. We will talk about how to properly clean and lube the bike as well as targeting areas of the bike where minor preventative maintenance will keep it running safely and reliably between tune-ups. This will be a great clinic for learning when your bike needs to go to the shop and when you can make some minor interim adjustments at home.

6-23-10 or 8-4-10 : Fast Fixes For the Road and Trail
Have you ever been up a trail without a tube? This clinic will be your new best friend. We will focus on getting home safely when you encounter common and less expected trail and road woes. Everything from a flat tire to a broken derailleur hanger will be covered. Bring your craziest breakdown story!

6-30-10 or 8-11-10 : The Whole Bike
Terminology and function will be the focus of this clinic. You shouldn’t work on your bike until you know what each part is called and how it functions on the bike as whole. This clinic will be the groundwork for the more technical clinics to follow.

7-7-10 or 8-18-10 : Brakes, Shifting, and Drive Train
Just like it sounds. Learn to make adjustments and service these areas of your bike.

7-14-10 or 8-25-10 : Hubs, Bottom Brackets, Headsets and Wheels
Learn the principles of bearing surfaces and proper adjustment. Wheels are a beautifully functionally part of the bike, learn how the wheel works, how to maintain your wheels, and how to select equipment when it is time for new wheels.
